Travel options

Day 1 - 3 - Cairo, Pyramids and Sphinx
Upon arrival you are met at the airport and transferred to your hotel and the rest of the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure. The following day visit Cairo’s famous pyramids around Giza and Saqqara with an Egyptologist. The sight of these extraordinary structures rising out of the desert is breath taking. Our last full day in Cairo is free to explore or take an optional guided city tour.

Day 4 - Baharya Oasis
From bustling Cairo, we drive west into the barren, desolate, and eerily beautiful Egyptian Western Desert. A vast expanse that starts on the western banks of the Nile and continues into Libya covering some 2.8 million sq km. A region dotted with isolated oases and remote settlements that were formally the bustling hubs on trade routes between Africa and the Mediterranean. The Western Desert offers the chance to explore little visited archeological sites and the culture of the Bedouin, as well as to experience the extraordinary landscapes and endless vistas. Our first stop is the Baharya Oasis famous for its dates, wine and hot springs, surrounded by golden sand littered with tiny glittering black basalt stones.

Day 5 - 6 - White Desert, Farafra, Dakhla & Kharga Oases
We explore the White and Black deserts by 4x4 jeep to discover landscapes that look like the moon’s rocky surface with curiously shaped rocks. We visit the Crystal Mountains, an outcrop consisting of quartz crystals strewn across the sand, and the chunky black rocks formed by volcanic eruptions in the Black Desert. We spend one night camping out in the White Desert under an enormous starry sky, and another night at the Farafra Oasis to enjoy the hot springs and hospitable Bedouin people.

Day 7 - 8 - Luxor, Cairo
We travel to Luxor and explore the east and west banks, including Karnak temple and Valley of the Kings and Queens. On the evening of day eight we take an overnight train to Cairo.

Day 9 - 10 - Cairo
Return to Cairo to spend one last night in this ancient city before being transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
