Day 1
Depart Cape Town via Du Toit's Kloof Pass to Worcester and traverse the famous Route 62, passing through Montagu to the town of Robertson. Visit the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp, where the true diversity of landscapes is highlighted by the ever-changing semi-desert areas, arriving at our luxurious hotel in Oudtshoorn. After checking in, the remainder of the afternoon is spent visiting the Cango Caves for a fully guided tour. Return to the hotel and enjoy a hearty dinner at a local restaurant famous for its ostrich fare and fine wines. Hlangana Country Lodge or similar - dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2
After breakfast, start the day with a visit to a local ostrich farm for a guided tour. Leaving Oudtshoorn, continue over the Outeniqua Pass and experience the sudden contrast of the semi-desert Klein Karoo to indigenous Fynbos vegetation as we approach South Africa's 'oyster capital', Knysna. Day 3
After breakfast we have sufficient time to enjoy a stroll through the town or waterfront. We set off on a scenic drive through Wilderness via Dolphin Point to historic Mossel Bay. Send a postcard to friends or relatives from the famous Post Office Tree before visiting the Diaz and Maritime Museums with their relics of famous explorers. The day continues with an afternoon game drive in a malaria-free private game reserve, which is home to an abundance of animal and bird life. Set against the backdrop of the Langeberg Mountain Range, the Garden Route Game Lodge guards the entrance to South Africa's world famous Garden Route Coast. Dinner in an African Boma (weather permitting) provides us with a unique dining experience, where a hearty array of tasty traditional cuisine can be enjoyed. Day 4
An early morning game drive followed by a sumptuous breakfast can be enjoyed. After this, we complete our stay with an informative guided tour of the lodge's Reptile Centre and Cheetah Breeding Centre. Our tour continues via Swellendam to your hotel at Waenhuiskrans, set in the beauty of white limestone cliffs, giant sand dunes, pristine beaches, stunning nature reserves and the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. Freshen up for a delectable dinner featuring Cape Country cuisine blending old Cape Malay favourites with some modern eclectic innovations. Day 5
After a full South African breakfast, our final day begins with a visit to Cape Agulhas (southernmost tip of Africa). Continue to Hermanus, which is famed for being the best land based whale-watching site in the world (seasonal). Our journey back to Cape Town continues as we travel via the wheat fields of the Overberg. Proceed via the spectacular coastal drive along the east coast of False Bay with its panoramic views of Cape Point and Table Mountain. The tour ends with drop off at hotel or at Cape Town International Airport. |
