Language - Chichewa and English are widely spoken.
Climate - The Lakeshore areas
have low rainfall and a warm climate. The highland areas have
greater temperature variations and the nights can be cool.
The rains fall from December to April.
Adventure - Sharing borders with Tanzania,
Mozambique and Zambia, Malawi is a land of great contrast
- from mountain plateau with bracing air, trout streams and
breathtaking scenery to Lake Malawi with its clear waters
and sandy beaches. Visitors can explore the wilderness in
National Parks and a multitude of smaller game and nature
reserves.
No visit to Malawi would
be complete without a visit to Africa's third largest lake,
home to Lake Malawi National Park, where snorkelers and divers
can discover the unique wonders of the lake's underwater world.
Sailing, water skiing and fishing or simply lazing in the
African sun are also favorite pastimes. Elsewhere Malawi offers
opportunities for hiking, mountain climbing and bird and game
watching.
