Days 1 to 2 - Casablanca, Rabat
After spending the first night in Casablanca we visit one of the city’s
enormous mosques before driving to the fortified town of Rabat. Here
you will visit the various places of interest which date back to Roman
times.
Days 3 to 4 - Meknes
We travel to the ancient site of Volubillis and Moulay Idriss before
arriving in Meknes. With over 20 gates and 40 palaces, the Moorish
city of Meknes is a fascinating place to explore with its Medinas and
vibrant markets.
Days 5 to 7 - Fes, Er Foud
From Meknes we continue to Fes, and here you are free to explore the
many narrow alleyways of the old city. A guided walking tour of the
Medina is also available. We travel across the Middle Atlas and on
to the Meski Oasis, and from there to Er Foud on the edge of the Sahara
Desert. We follow the Ziz River to Rissani where our visit coincides
with the weekly market. On returning to Er Foud we meet our 4x4 vehicles
which take us to the dunes of Merzouga. There is an optional camel
ride here.
Days 8 to 9 - Todra Gorge
Heading for the mountains we follow an ancient route along the slopes
of the Atlas Mountains and take a rough track which leads us to the
Todra Gorge, sometimes described as Morocco’s Grand Canyon. We
spend a day exploring the region on foot.
Day 10 - Valley of 1000 Kasbahs
Travelling westwards, we pass via the Dades Gorge and onto El Kelaa de
M’Gouna. We drive through the Valley of 1000 Kasbahs to arrive
at the oasis town of Ouarzazate.
Days 11 to 12 - Essaouira
After travelling via the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, you have two days to relax
on the Atlantic coast at Essaouira. The area is know for its colourful markets
and there is time for an optional horse / camel ride along the beach.
Days 13 to 15 - Marrakech
We make our way to bustling Marrakech. The days are at leisure to visit the many
colourful souks and the renowned Djemma el Fna Square, the main market where
Arabs and Berbers come to sell their wares, gossip and drink mint tea. Arrangements
end after breakfast on Day 15. |
