5 Day Lion And Elephant Encounter
A unique opportunity to get up close to two of Africa’s most famous members of the ‘Big Five’, as well as enjoying the magic of Victoria Falls.
This is an "Overland Comfort Class Safari". What is a Comfort Class Safari?
Day 1 Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
On your arrival in Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) transfer to your comfortable hotel in town. There is time to unwind and relax before we take a memorable sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The cruise meanders at a gentle pace and with each side of the river designated a national park, look out for elephant, hippo, crocodile and possibly even rhino coming to drink. The sun setting over the river makes this a delightful intorduction to Africa.
Days 2 to 3 - Victoria Falls, Elephant Safari and 'Walking with Lions'
Over the next two days we rub shoulders with two of Africa's Big 5: first we head off on an elephant back safari through the African bushveld. From our viewpoint atop these gentle giants we may spot animals including impala, bush buck, buffalo and zebra. The following day we get up close and personal with the king of beasts, the lion. There is a group of lion cubs that range from 3 to 16 months of age and offers guests an unparalleled experience and insight into the behavior of this threatened African species. The "Walking with Lions" encounter is an opportunity to interact with 2 or 3 cubs for up to an hour and a half during a single session. The lions are unrestrained and roam free as you join them on a walk through riverine vegetation and African bush on the banks of the Masuwe River. The encounter is fully supervised and professionally managed by an experienced and qualified team who have been working with lions for over 20 years originally at Gweru's Antelope Park. We also visit the Falls themselves from Victoria Falls National Park.
Day 4 to 5 - Victoria Falls
You have a full day at leisure to explore Victoria Falls or engage in various activities on offer. To celebrate the end of a great and unique trip, you may also like to take the option of a dinner at The Boma, a local restaurant specialising in exotic foods and game meats. The following day you are transferred back to the airport for your onward flight.
