Sunday January 6 - Vancouver to London
Our great adventure begins with an overnight Air Canada flight to London. Dinner, breakfast and drinks on board.

Monday January 7 - London to Johannesburg
On arrival at London’s Heathrow Airport we will transfer to a convenient and comfortable hotel where day rooms have been booked for us.  The afternoon is at leisure to relax, take a taxi to Windsor or the Underground into the city.  This evening we will transfer back to Heathrow Airport for our South African Airways flight  to Johannesburg.

Tuesday January 8 - Johannesburg
If ever there was a city of contrasts, it is Johannesburg - "City of Gold". Even though today the city is an international mining and financial capital, the spirit of a rough, rugged mining town lingers on underneath its brash modern exterior. Upmarket shopping malls in the city centre and tree lined suburbia offer gastronomic delights as one would find in most sophisticated cities of the world. Accommodation is of equal sophistication and the variety is enormous.

On arrival in Johannesburg we will be met by a representative from Welcome Tourism Services and assisted to our hotel in Rosebank.

A tranquil atmosphere combined with friendly efficient service, is the trademark of the 4 star Rosebank Hotel, along with an outstanding reputation. The facilities include 2 restaurants, 2 bars, outdoor swimming pool and gym with steam room.  Shopping malls are within 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel, providing guests with a wide variety of curio and craft shops, gift shops, art galleries, clothing boutiques, chain stores, restaurants, cinemas and entertainment.

Afternoon at leisure for optional touring, shopping  or just relaxing.

Overnight at The Rosebank Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

Wednesday January 9 - Okavango Delta
This morning, after breakfast, we will be transferred back to O R Tambo International Airport for our Air Botswana flight to Maun.

On arrival in Maun we will be met by a representative from Wilderness Safaris and assisted to our Sefofane light aircraft for our air transfer to the Okavango Delta. (Please note that all baggage on all Sefofane light aircraft transfers in Botswana and Zambia is limited to 12kg per person, preferably in soft-sided bags).

The Moremi has built up an excellent reputation. This is the park to view the Okavango's big game. Animals include large numbers of buffalo, elephant, leopard and lion, as well as all the plains game. Wild dog are a big specialty. In this area you will experience one of the highest quality wildlife-viewing opportunities in Africa, within some of Africa's finest scenery. Explore the savanna and floodplains in open 4x4 vehicles. Birdlife is prolific with waterfowl and waders being particularly common. Camps in this area may also offer some water activities.

Little Vumbura Camp is situated in the northern concession area of the Okavango Delta, bordering onto the Moremi Game Reserve and is close to the Okavango's outermost dry sandveld and open savannas. The privacy of this area is one of Little Vumbura's main attractions.  The camp accommodates twelve guests on a wonderful island in the same region as its sister camp, Vumbura Plains. The six tents are under an enormous canopy of ancient Okavango forest with ebony, marula, knobthorn, garcinia and fig being the dominant trees.  Each tent is large amd roomy and has en suite facilities, as well as an outside shower for those who want to be even closer to nature.  The dining room and pub are under canvas and have been built in and around the existing trees.  There is a pool and a "sala" for relaxing and reading in the quiet of the day.  The focus at Little Vumbura is slightly more on the water activities such as boats and mekoros, and walks, drives and fishing are other activities available to us.

Overnight at Little Vumbura on an all inclusive basis.

Thursday January 10 - Okavango Delta
Two full days of game viewing and other activities. The Vumbura Reserve offers both land and water activities in a park that has a wonderful variety of habitats and a great diversity of wildlife. The reserve offers an enormous traversing area of close on 130,000 acres.  Open 4x4 Land Rovers allow close proximity to animals in the savannah and forested areas. The Vumbura area is possibly the only area in the Okavango where one can see Red Lechwe (an animal that inhabits the fringes of the waterways) and a Sable Antelope (an animal that enjoys the dry countryside) on the same game drive. Add in lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah and buffalo along with all the plains animals, including giraffe, and one has an excellent all round wildlife experience in a remote and private part of the Okavango. Birding, too, is great with large varieties and quantities. Walks, mekoros and boating give Vumbura's guests the opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective.

Overnight at Little Vumbura on an all inclusive basis.

SaturdayJanuary 12 - Okavango Delta
After an early morning game viewing activity and brunch we will be transferred by Sefofane light aircraft from Little Vumbura to Chitabe Camp.

Chitabe (prounounced Chitaabee) is bordered by the Moremi Game Reserve to the north and east and offers visitors "classical Okavango" scenery. Chitabe offers guests game drives in open 4x4 vehicles both during the day and at night, as well as nature walks. The camp's owners are the well-known authors of the critically acclaimed book entitled "Running Wild-Dispelling the Myths of the African Wild Dog." In addition to the marvelous Wild Dogs found in this region one has the opportunity to see elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and cheetah. The camp itself is situated on one of the beautiful Delta islands. The eight luxurious twin-bedded tents, built on elevated wooden decks, are surrounded by ancient ebony, leadwood and sausage trees. Each tent has en suite facilities with hot and cold running water. A separate, thatched dining room, bar and lounge area are linked by raised walkways which offer superb views over the open floodplain.

Overnight at Chitabe Camp on an all inclusive basis.

Sunday January 13 - Okavango Delta
A full day of game-viewing and other activities. Chitabe is strictly a land game-viewing camp – no water activities are offered here.  We will travel out into the wild in the morning and afternoon, returning usually after dark when we can spot the more elusive nocturnal animals.  The Chitabe concession offers a fantastic walking experience with highly trained and qualified guides.

Overnight at Chitabe Camp on an all inclusive basis.

Monday January 14 - Linyanti
After an early morning game-viewing activity and brunch we will be transferred by Sefofane light aircraft from Chitabe Camp to the Linyanti.

The Savuti Channel, which borders on and is within Botswana's Chobe National Park, is one of Africa's most famous big game areas.  Savuti is famous for its predators, particularly its resident lion and spotted hyena populations. Only 38 km northwest of Savuti and off the main tourist track lies Botswana's best kept secret - Linyanti.  The Linyanti and upper Savuti areas rank as one of the most beautiful in Botswana.  The game-viewing can be exceptional, and the full range of activities (game drives, night drives, walk and boating) make this an exceptional area to visit.  Linyanti hosts large herds of buffalo, zebra and elephant.  As well, because this area is a private game reserve, the vehicle concentrations are exceptionally low and the wilderness experience is one of the best in Africa.

DumaTau is a small, luxury tented camp in the private 125 000ha Linyanti Wildlife Reserve that borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. The camp is built under a shady grove of mangosteen trees and overlooks a large hippo-filled lagoon within the Linyanti waterway system. The source of the Savuti Channel is close to the camp, and day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles up the Savuti are one of the highlights of the area.  The 9 luxurious, tented rooms at DumaTau are raised off the ground and are under thatch with canvas walls allowing you to enjoy the night sounds of Africa from the comfort of your bed. Rooms are spacious and bed linen is soft and comfortable. The bathroom facilities are en suite with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and additional outside showers if you prefer to be closer to nature. Flashlights are provided for use in the evenings, as rooms are not brightly lit.  The tasty meals at Duma Tau are served outside in the boma or in the dining area.

Overnight at DumaTau on an all inclusive basis.

Tuesday January 15 - Linyanti
Two full days of game viewing and other activities in the Linyanti. Activities at Duma Tau Camp are diverse and allow you to enjoy time on the water, on land and on foot. DumaTau offers boating, day and night game and nature drives along the Linyanti and Savuti as well as short nature walks. A pontoon boat allows guests access to the waterways to observe hippos at close range.  There are many hides in the area where you can enjoy wildlife viewing away from a vehicle. One of the best is right at the source of the Savuti and many species of game and birdlife can usually be seen from this hide.

Overnight at DumaTau Camp on an all inclusive basis.

Thursday January 17 - Victoria Falls
After an early morning game viewing activity and brunch we will be transferred by Sefofane light aircraft to Kasane where we will clear Botswana exit formalities. We will then continue by road and boat to Livingstone on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls.

The River Club is situated on the Zambezi River, 18 kilometres upstream from the Victoria Falls in Zambia. The River Club's ten luxury chalets and two honeymoon suites are set amongst lush riverine vegetation along a steep bank overlooking the Zambezi.  The roomy wood and thatch split-level chalets are decorated in simple colonial style, each looking into the African sunset, with a special view of the river and Zambezi National Park.  The main lodge building, with its colonial-style tin roof, houses the dining room, lounge, drawing room and library which is stocked with volumes of historical and wildlife literature.

Overnight at The River Club on an all inclusive basis.

Friday January 18 - Victoria Falls
Two full days of activities and adventures at The River Club.  Fishing trips and sundowner boat trips to the islands in front of the lodge, canoe trips, visits to Mosi oa Tunya National Park, visits to historical Livingstone, visits to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, nearby African villages and Stone-age sites are all included in the rates.  Other activities including the following can be arranged at extra cost: game-walks and drives, full day canoeing trips, white-water rafting, bungi jumping, helicopter and microlight flights, elephant-back safaris and tours of the Zimbabwe side of the Victoria Falls.

Overnight at The River Club on an all inclusive basis.

After breakfast this morning  we will be transferred to Livingstone Airport for our Nationwide Airlines flight to Johannesburg and onward flight on South African Airways to London.  Dinner, breakfast and drinks on board.
