Day 1 - 2
On arrival at Zanzibar airport you will be met and transferred to the
Tembo Hotel in Stone Town where you will overnight the next two nights
on a bed and breakfast basis.
On one of the days, follow your nose through an intoxicating Spice Tour. Depart from Zanzibar town via new settlements
and small scale industries. Out in
the countryside, pass by cultivations of
Cashew nuts and Kasawa (Cassava), a staple
diet of Zanzibaris. Visit several small, private
farms growing exotic fruits and spices.
Taste fruits in season such as Breadfruit,
Jack fruit, Papaya, Pineapple, Star fruit,
Mango, Banana, Avocado and even the foul smelling
Durian.
Sample the strange or perhaps familiar
aromas of spices such as Cinnamon,
Cardomom, Nutmeg, Black Pepper and
Zanzibar’s most famous spice - the Clove.
Learn about various plants with special uses
such as the Iodine plant, the Elangi-elangi
tree, the Hennae bush and the Mbirimbi
tree.
Continue the tour with a visit to one of several
Persian baths, before a stop for refreshments.
Return towards town, stopping en route to
see the Maruhubi Palace ruins, originally
built by the great Sultan Barghash. A final
stop at Livingstone house before finishing
the tour.
The classic Zanzibar-style Tembo Hotel
is situated on the seafront of Stone Town. Consisting of 32 rooms
with en-suite
bathrooms
and showers all rooms are also fitted with mini-bar, telephone
and air conditioning. There are 2 wings - one which is
of typical Zanzibar style and the other which is more modern.
There are two restaurants, one a la carte and one on the
terrace by the swimming pool. The hotel does not serve
alcohol
although there is a bar nearby.
Day 3 - 5
This morning you will be met at your hotel and transferred to Karafuu Beach Resort for overnight the next three nights on a half-board basis in a superior room.
Karafuu Hotel Beach Resort is a four star beach resort situated on the glistening white sands of the East Coast of Zanzibar. Each of the 92 spacious, individual bungalows have full en-suite, ceiling fan and/or air conditioning, private verandahs (most with exquisite sea views) and mosquito netting to ensure a restful night’s sleep as you listen to the waves rolling in. The ocean is warm and the swimming, snorkeling and diving are fantastic! After a day in the sun relax at the open-air bar and enjoy a delicious meal in the hotel restaurant. Definitely a place to take 2 or 3 days just to relax and enjoy the location.
Day 6
Today you will be transferred back to Zanzibar airport in time for your
onward flight.
